Your CD is the visual representation of you and your music. It tells people at a glance what your music is all about, what your style is and maybe even the story behind the music. It needs to be designed professionally and delivered to your chosen manufacturer in output files to the manufacturers specifications. This would be difficult, if not next to impossible for your best friends brother, an aspiring but inexperienced designer.
We work closely with the you and the manufacturer to ensure that the files are delivered to the manufacturer according to their unique specification. This ensures that your printing costs are minimized. Minimizing your costs will ensure that your money is being spent on all the important things, like the pint you'll have to celebrate the release of your new CD.
We're very pleased and honored to have recently designed the CD artwork for musician Fleur Mainville.
Fleur was a previous member of the band Mackeel. MacKeel had the honour of sharing the stage with many bands such as The Bare Naked Ladies, Junk House, Great Big Sea, Tea Party, The Irish Descendents, Rawlin's Cross, Natalie MacMaster, Leahy, The Mahon's, Seven Nations, The Tragically Hip, Crash Test Dummies, Ashley MacIsaac, Honeymoon Suite, Barney Bental, Glass Tiger, The Rankin Family, Mary Jane Lamond, Clandestine and The Barra MacNeil's to name a few. In 2002 MacKeel parted ways and Fleur started her solo career.
Her debut independent CD Finding Treasures was recorded by Dave Gunning in the Wee House of Music. Her fan base has grown to include followers from all over the world. She has toured with many groups and continues to perform as a solo artist and as a contributing musician with groups such as Dave Gunning, Steve Bower's, Kilt, The Stadacona Band, George Canyon.... and has provided her talent to many recording artists such as Dave Gunning, John Spyder MacDonald, Maurice Poirier, Steve Bowers, Rudy, and others. She has continued to share the stage with many artists and is in high demand as a performer who can play in many different styles and with a flare on stage that demands attention and recognition.
Her second CD, It's About Time, released in 2006, was recorded by Georges Hebert at the Music Room in Halifax. In November 2008, Fleur released the Christmas recording, Fleurries, featuring some of her favorite traditional Christmas songs with some of her favorite Pictou County musicians. Her original tunes are now being used by HBO and by other fiddlers from all over.
She was nominated for the 2008 Rock Star Award for the Pictou County Tourist Association and was a feature performer in showcases and in the finale of the Nova Scotia Music Week Gala Awards Show with George Canyon and Dave Gunning in November 2008. She is the third member of the newest female trio to come out of Pictou County, Ferrona. Sandra DeCoste-MacMaster and Lynn DeCoste have an eclectic, folk rock sound with original compositions and are performing around Nova Scotia.
Fleur also performs with her long time friend, Ashley George, a member of the rock band Beyond Ash, and at Hebel's Restaurant in New Glasgow, most Friday evenings. She's a busy lady and we're very pleased to be involved in her 'about to be released' CD entitled Fleur Mainville and the Bedlam Boys 'My Rare One'.
Fleur was so easy to work with and knew what she wanted. It was a true pleasure designing her album. She was looking for a cover that reflects her celtic rock image. She wanted it to be whimsicle and organic, with a floral element, and gave us free creative range.
